IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

The Daily Piglet has honored me by giving me a prize!

kick-ass-blogger

Piglet is one of the funniest bloggers out there. She also has the biggest heart and is a huge supporter of GLBT issues! So much she served as a peace keeper at her local Gay Pride parade. We love her!

Pain is the price we pay for being alive. So instead of wondering why we feel pain, more correctly we should ask, 'What can I do to make my pain mean something more than suffering?' ~Harold Kushner

This day I am grateful...
  • that I place my trust in a Higher Power
  • to have been reminded in yesterday's meeting that we as alcoholics act like spoiled brats and 'our crippling handicap was our lack of humility' (Bill W)
  • that I got a message this morning from DS saying a reverse charge call came in last night from the jail and he was hoping it wasn't I. It wasn't. How grateful am I about that?
  • that the closest to being in jail was when I was taken in on suspicion of bank robbery in Nashville in 1974. The robber wore an afro wig--mine was real!
  • that it's good to start a day with a big smile!

I will center my thoughts on a Higher Power. I will surrender all to this power within me. I will become a soldier for this power, feeling the might of the spiritual army as it exists in my life today. I will allow a wave of spiritual union to connect me through my gratitude, obedience and discipline to this Higher Power. Let me allow this power to lead me through the orders of the day. May the steps I take today strengthen my words and deeds, may I know that the message I carry is mine to share, given freely by this power greater than myself. ~Daily Reflections

Oh my gosh how I remember that crap in Nashville. The police treated you like shit. I wanted to tell them off sooooooo badly. I too am grateful I have not graced the inside of a jail. The only exception for me would be when I went to Asland, Ky to see my boyfriend's brother who was in for bank robbery. I slipped a Wendy's cheeseburger in the bib of my overalls. When I think of that now and the trouble I could have gotten into it is sacry. But then I have done a LOT of things in my life that I was watched over. Right So??

I had a friend once who robbed a bank and used a bicycle for the get away. He got caught..hmm, sounds like a plan hatched when someone was high.

So you had a large Afro and were almost cuffed and stuffed--an interesting experience I'm sure. Glad that you decided not to be Jesse James.

Hey, Afro-hair-do guy, my father (a blind guy) used to say, "God watches over drunks, and blind people". I've heard it since, time and again...must be some truth there?

I am NOT gonna say anything about you having a huge black afro and lurking in the corners of gay bars in Nashville.
Just to see what condition your condition was in? HA!!

Dave, it wasn't black, it was red with golden highlights! Please. I am too pale to wear black hair.

Harper, welcome. Keep coming back!

LOL- Somehow YOU - afro wig and bank robbery just don't go together.

I don't think it was a wig Pammie.

Oh, my dear, the lives we have lived!
