IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

08.28.08

Persons who hate or are selfish are going against the law of their own being. They are cutting themselves off from God and other people. Little acts of love and encouragement, of service and help, erase the rough places of life and help to make a path smooth. If we do these things, we cannot help having our share of happiness. ~Twenty-Four Hours a Day
.
This day I am grateful...
  • to not have to search sordid places for enough or more
  • that every day I concentrate on turning things over and letting them go in an attempt to express my gratitude to my Higher Power. I strive for trust.
  • for prayers for those who no longer come to meetings at Lambda. There are newcomers that will not know their experience, strength and hope.
  • for the strength and encouragement working the program of AA has given me
  • for direct evidence of the disease at work in yesterday's noon meeting
I was always so perceptive when it came to assessing the character faults of others. I could offer the best therapy and treatment to others; the best advice in the world. I was excellent at "pulling the covers" on a con-man --- but always I missed me! I never really heard my insights. I never followed my advice. I always minimized my character faults. ~Fr Leo

For me, sordid places rarely had enough. But that never kept me from looking.

I'm with Dave on this one. One of the things that actually drove me into the program is that my home became one of those sordid places. :(

I like your gratitude list Scott. And I like that you are there for the newcomer. The sordid place for me was in my head.

I sought out the devil himself--in hell. Guess ya could call that 'sordid'?

'Nuff said on that topic for me...I have found a better way to live, probably THE best way, but who knows. All I know is , it WORKS

Sordid places. There are plenty of them in my What it was like and are so gloriously missing from what it is like now. Thanks for pointing that out.
