IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

Things Change

I am taking a break from blogging. This is something I have done regularly for over five years, come here and share my gratitude. It has been an integral part of my sobriety. I have been feeling more and more that I need a little distance from it because it has been really hard lately to exercise restraint of tongue and pen (keyboard). More than likely I will return, but in the long run it is not about me. I just need to figure out what it really is about.

A human being has so many skins inside, covering the depths of the heart. We know so many things, but we don't know ourselves! Why, thirty or forty skins or hides, as thick and hard as an ox's or bear's, cover the soul. Go into your own ground and learn to know yourself there. ~Meister Eckhart

Taking care of one's self is the most important thing we can do -- in recovery or not. At least I'll still get to see you every day.

Scott, you were one of the stalwarts that I read when I first started my blog. Your way of expressing gratitude and the great quotes that you included have been a daily part of my routine. I will miss them. I have your address so will be sending the photograph to you. I hope that you be back. Many thanks for what you have provided here.

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Go and frolic with bunny for a while but check back in!
I understand completely.

Hi there. I am new to your blog, but found it to be a nice respite from the "rants" found elsewhere. It was a place of peace.

Sometimes our souls seek change and that can be a good thing. I wish you a good journey and will check back from time to time.

:) R.

Well I always enjoyed your comments. Straight from the hip, with humor. I'm new to blogging but can see how it might not be sustainable forever. Best wishes to you in whatever comes next to fill in the spaces.

I understand taking a break. I'm taking an unnanounced break at the moment because I simply can't make up my mind but I feel that I haven't had anything to say for months. Good for you for being clear.

I hope you will index your work so it is easier to browse through. Beautiful rich material.... don't just let it lie.. without archiving...

Learning about oneself is a long and tedious process. It is like cleaning a house. It takes a lot of organizing and storing and exhaustive effort. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Connecting with others ultimately guides us through the tireless task of self-reflection.
