Hi there. You have obviously come a very long way and have a wonderful way with words. They are inspiring and I am so happy for you that you get such pleasure from the simple things in life. I noticed on your page the picture of two dogs. This caught my eye as I have a wonderful friend who is a Chiricahua Apache and who shares wonderful wisdom with me. I thought that you would like to know that your story of 2 dogs actually comes from an old Apache proverb called "Two Wolves" and goes like this:
An old Apache is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me" he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego".
He continued "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person too".
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?". The old Apache simply replied "The one you feed".

I have this on my fridge so I can read it every day.

Such a wonderful story. I found you because I had just watched a very touching video about US soldiers - where a series of images were shown of various soldiers and each one was labelled "mother" "brother" "Sister" "Son" etc - to remind us that these people who are out there fighting for a war few believe in are doing it because they believe they are making the world a better place for US to live in. At the end of the video was some script which asked why they had been abandoned - and that all they needed to know was that their loved ones were proud of them. It then showed images of various funerals. The video was so powerful it made me cry. I noticed that the tears I was crying contained no salt and wondered how this could be. I am ill at the moment and worried that it might be a sign that something else was wrong with me so I googled it until I found your words about unsalty tears and just wanted to share this proverb with you as your words also moved me.

If you are at all curious about the video that so moved me it can be found here:

A reminder to us all I believe - that no matter what your belief or feelings about the awful wars being waged around the world - that soldiers are PEOPLE doing a job because they want to make the world a better place. Something I also find inspiring and brave. Thank you for sharing your deepest thoughts with the world.
