You are far more wonderful than you think you are. Rest with that. Rest easy with that. Breathe again. You
are doing fine. More than fine. Better than fine. You're doin' great. So relax. And love yourself today. ~Conversations with God

Today I am grateful...
- that I went to a meeting yesterday when all I wanted to do was run away
- that many people at that meeting shared where they were, and it was right where I was
- for some time last night to watch some mindless, but funny, movies
- that the only approval I really need comes to me from my Higher Power
- that I am a day closer to having my electricity back--whenever that is
The perverse wish to hide a bad motive underneath a good one permeates human affairs from top to bottom. This subtle and elusive kind of selfish-righteousness can underlie the smallest act or thought. Learning daily to spot, admit, and correct these flaws is the essence of character-building and good living. ~As Bill Sees It

There are STILl people up here in Kentucky w/o power. Ike really tore up some folks.
Scott..I am curious to know how you are living without electricity.
I think it would make an interesting post for you to write about and maybe remind all of us not to ake our electricity for granted...!
xo
Tab, I go home to grab some clothes or whatever I need and drop Bunny off during the day. At night I have been staying at a friend's who is still out of town and has extended his visit because right now he doesn't have any work. It's a nice fit, I get some peace and quiet, a comfy bed for me and Bunny and air conditioning!
I could stay at home, but right next to me is a large gas powered generator. It's loud. And I can't open my door or windows due to the fumes. There is someone living there on some medical machinery.
I love #1.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
ya..that's not very exciting..lol..I was imagining you painting by candle light at night and firing up the bbq to boil your coffee water..you know..like living in the wild west with no power.lol..but at least you are keeping well during the Houston crisis...sure hope all gets fixed down there soon!
Of course, I'm just a baby in the program, but the 12X12 applies to everyone, regardless of time in sobriety:
There are cases where our ancient enemy, rationalization, has stepped in and has justified conduct which was really wrong. The temptation here is to imagine that we had good motives and reasons when we really didn't.
I hate it when that happens.
Don't you love having a blog where you can say whatever you want? It's very freeing...like in the program.
(and I love your gratitude lists.)
The only approval I need is from my higher power~~I hope I get to that point some day.
My son is totally hooked on those Conversations With God books.
How long have you had to go without electricity? That is rough.
