IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

07.14.08

You can’t lose in this game. You can’t go wrong. It’s not part of the plan. There’s no way not to get where you are going. There’s no way to miss your destination. If God is your target, you’re in luck, because God is so big, you can’t miss.
Today I am grateful...
  • that most early mornings, like this one, I feel totally at peace
  • that I have time every day to sit and be quiet before the world rushes in
  • that the journey is life long in its length -- the destination just always out of reach
  • for the odd feeling yesterday when we were leaving the restaurant. I had been facing the rear of the place, and my experience was there there were not many people there, only to turn around and see the place mobbed with people. It was such a strange feeling.
  • that these days I am pretty good about keeping my commitments
To live your life without expectation—without the need for specific results—that is freedom. That is Godliness.
There is nothing scary about life, if you are not attached to results.

you should always look around at a restaurant, one...to see what everybody else ordered and two...remember what happened when I looked around a restaurant you and I were having lunch in? Um-hmm that turned out to be very interesting - and gay.

There. there, Scott. No one is creeping up behind you.

My sponsor shares wise thoughts about attachments to outcomes.

It is very difficult to sit with my back to the restaraunt. It's just creepy.

I so am envious of this "that I have time every day to sit and be quiet before the world rushes in"

I think I will try to incorporate that into my life a little more each day. I am one of those who wakes up and feet hit the floor and off I go....

I would LOVE to meet a man who can sit with his back to anyone in a restaurant.... oh wait, I have already met you!

Hey- I like your blogs and your art (: My therapist wants me to keep a gratitude journal, she even gave everyone a small note pad in the therapy group that she runs. We're supposed to write 3 things we are grateful for every night before bed. I haven't done it in a while. Thanks for reminding me....3 things I'm grateful for today...my friend K.L., the fact that I actually had the energy to clean my apartment for 20 minutes, and that I found out just in time to renew my city sticker and not get a ticket on my car.
