IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

We must always understand that the compulsion to drink is the root cause of every binge. We may blame certain things that seemed to trigger a drunk, but it is always our own compulsion that gives force to such an action. Nonalcoholics have the same human experiences we do, but such things do not cause them to have binges. Seasoned AA members are trained by their experience to detect and defuse these false causes. "There are excuses but never good reasons for drinking," they say. We always drink because we want to drink, not because an other's actions forced us into it. ~Walk in Dry Places
Today I am grateful...
  • that a loved one pointed out to me that I have developed an underlying bitterness. I have not been able to identify it, but I am searching.
  • that our weather here has been glorious
  • that though I overslept this morning I can get on track easily, but reading blogs will have to come later
  • that I will find time to get to the Post Office today to mail my taxes. I don't want to wait until tomorrow.
  • that I am done here and I wish you a peaceful day

Maybe your loved one is wrong.
I mail my taxes in October.
I disagree 100% with Walk in Dry places today.
I love this weather.
You are precious to me.

Just like with the alcoholic, I have the same human experiences, fears, resentments, etc. I just do mine sober.
