IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

For every tear that falls from the eyes, a tear also falls into the heart. There it moistens the fertile ground of awareness, giving birth to greater compassion and love. ~Julie Redstone
Today I am grateful...
  • for a quiet breakthrough during this morning's prayers
  • that now that I have identified an underlying factor in some recent behavior I can start the change of attitude it will take
  • that back in November of 2003 (I can't believe it has been that long) I was able to surrender
  • that usually it's 'a little at a time'. That can be a way to health or a way to ruin. Today I will choose the way to health.
Anything can be used to avoid dealing with reality. People can use alcohol, food, drugs, people, sex, gambling - and yes, even animals - to avoid dealing with their loneliness and feelings of isolation.
The key to addiction is to be found in the obsessive and compulsive behavior patterns that stop us from reaching our full potential as human beings. We cannot relax with who we are because of our exaggerated and painful lifestyles. We cannot truly love ourselves because of our obsession with the "it" that seems to be controlling us. At some point we need to see the obsession and begin to talk about it.
In order for me to be a spiritual person I must free myself from compulsive attitudes. ~Fr Leo

My eight year old granddaughter was talking about having an "attitude of gratitude" yesterday, and I thought of you!

Have a Sweet Sunday Sweet Scott.

Enjoyed breakfast with you. I identify with the compulsion to fill the emptiness with something. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. I have lost your number. If you get the chance, give me a call.

Bravo for the breakthrough!

You're a kind, gentle soul.

XOXO,

My first sponsor once told me I need not to take on fostering any animals until I begin working with others. I was so pissed off because she presented some truth to me. However I could not see that then, it took me a while to get it.

It is great to see that growth never ends. To allow some humility come in allows the soul to live.

Hope you are having a free weekend!

What a thought-provoking post today, Lisa Douglas. That conversation with Eb this morning must have been profound.

Mighty Aphrodite is precisely correct: you are a kind, gentle soul!
