IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

Convictions of the heart, actions that lead you to trust in your belief in the power of love, are the foundation of spiritual faith. An assured heart says I do believe in love, I do, I do. When this certain heart steps out into an uncertain world, it relies upon the magic of its beliefs to steady its course, to light the dark places, and to guide it to new heights. ~journeywithspirit.com
Today I am grateful...
  • that Valentine's Day is over. I just don't function well on that day. Memories of my mom, as it was her favorite holiday. I am without a significant other (which is bullshit because on every other day I am just fine without). Bleh.
  • that I watched someone throw a huge hissy fit yesterday and I just wanted to laugh out loud. We really look stupid when we are in that place.
  • to have the high class problem of having too much stuff. It's starting to get under my skin so that means I have to start weeding out stuff and at least making all the surfaces in my house uncluttered. I am so visual, clutter makes my mind jumbled.
  • that I will do this Friday to the best of my ability and with some help from my HP and some alcoholics
  • that my sister, So, aka Lisa, has started her own blog, Trail Boss. Go say hello!
To master hope is an art. The Christians call it Faith, with it one can move mountains. To the Toltecs it is the Mastery of Intent. Master Toltecs can hold their attention on a vision with such belief that it will manifest. With the power of their attention they create a whole reality, any reality. They choose to create a life of unconditional love for themselves and the world. The action they take is to express love unconditionally. It doesn't necessarily mean that they will change the outside world or anybody else. It just means that they use their faith and expression of love to change their own world. This is the power of prayer and faith in action. When we hope against hope we are splitting our intent between what we desire, and what we fear in effect canceling our intent.

For me, the expectations of holidays are the things that I need to watch out for. I easily get into self pity if I have expectations of others. I know that but some days I decide to go back down the path that leads to no where.

O dear, I SO know what you mean about V-Day. And then to have memories on top of it.

My way of warding off the Valentine was to do that Valentine piece; so that there would be something around the holiday that I could get excited about. Also the reason I scheduled the day of vacation for yesterday; so I would miss the parade of roses at the office. Which, on one hand, isn't important to me, but somehow makes me feel, as you so aptly put it, "bleh".

I hope you have a great Friday, Scott!

On being single on Valentine's Day:

I remember the thick, handmade envelopes that we had taped to our small desks in grade two; gawdy in their over-use of pink and red cardboard.

The treat of seeing your envelope fill throughout the day with tacky velentines, with their ragged, torn edges, and only a signature, in big, bold scrawl -- no personal messages. I remember how happy this made me.

And so now, I try to share love with other singles on Valentines Day, in whatever way that incarnates. And it helps.
