IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

02.04.08 or 2 x 4 = 8

Many times we talk to a new man and watch his hope rise as we discuss his alcoholic problems and explain our fellowship. ~BB p. 45
Today I am grateful...
  • that I am now researching HOPE, the principle behind Step 2: Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. There isn't a lot written about hope that really explains it or the experience of having hope. So if you want to add anything just leave me a comment.
  • that Peter Massing, who has the current show at Nauhaus Gallery, had a very successful showing--selling over twenty pieces Saturday night. I had hung eight pieces and by the end of the night half were sold. Peter and I decided we would do a collaborative print at the Texas Collaborative Studio!
  • for the program which teaches me about relationships; relationships with others, with myself and with my Higher Power

Hope is to faith as desire is to willingness. ~unknown

Hope is a wonderful thing, something to be cherished and nurtured, and something that will refresh us in return. And it can be found in each of us, and it can bring light into the darkest of places.

Hope. I think it is the theme du jour and I shall write about it too!

I was hoping you'd say something like that.

Sometimes I go to meetings and hear the despair from newcomers, who are afraid that things will never change , that the alcoholic in their lives will not stop drinking . Fear is running their lives just as it did mine in the beginning. And I am reminded of how it used to be for me but thanks to Al-Anon I no longer fear change and know that regardless of what they do I will be okay.

There is always hope if we are patient. Slowly we realize that there is nothing we can do about any one else but so much we can do for ourselves. My life can change for the better and all I had to do was stick around and do what this program suggests. This is a simple program - but never confuse it with easy. This is hard work but I have discovered that I am worth it.

There is HOPE - we can recover from our past and it will lose the power to run our future.

We can recover from the affects of this disease and become who we need to be.

Hopefully by example others in our lives will follow us into recovery.

If we just show up and suit up our lives will improve. This program has taken me to places I never dreamed of , only God knows where I am going and thats ok with me. We have sobriety in our home and a life that is better than I imagined . Is it perfect ? No not by a long shot but thats ok too.

There is a lot to hope for if we just stick around and wait for the miracle.

Hope Springs Eternal. This came to mind as Hope Stands Eternal but did not quite seem right, so I googled it and it brought up HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL. As it turns out this is a BLOG post from December 2006. Quite interesting. Check it out

When I left my first AA meeting, I felt something odd and wonderful. It took me a couple of days to realize I was feeling hope for the first time in many years.
