[T]he man with the grown-up brain and the childish emotions - vanity, self-interest, false pride, jealousy, longing for social approval, to name a few - becomes a prime candidate for alcohol. To my way of thinking, that is a definition of alcoholism; a state of being in which the emotions have failed to grow to the stature of the intellect. ~Experience, Strength & Hope, pg. 411
Today I am grateful...
- for the new topic on Sobriety Society
- that my 'monkey mind' is a lot quieter than it used to be
- that I do not believe all I hear. I do trust the suggestions I hear in the rooms. Other than that I have to weigh what I hear or am told against what I feel to be true.
- that Bunny survived my dusting and sweeping with the vacuum cleaner yesterday. He barked the entire time, except the three times he threw up. He was so stressed out. Poor baby.
- to be so used to a calm and peaceful life, contingent upon my spiritual fitness. It keeps me searching for the next right thing.
If you hate the whole human race, yet demand it's approval at the same time...
Welcome to Alcoholics Anonymous. - Charlie C
Did you ever see an unhappy horse? Did you ever see a bird that had the blues? One reason why birds and horses are not unhappy is because they are not trying to impress other birds and horses.--Dale Carnegie

Speaking of horses, in Goreville, Illinois some IDIOT shot a horse in the head Halloween night. The horse, whose name is Chance, survived but the bullet cannot be removed because it would kill him. They are giving him pain killers and antibiotics but it looks grim. The owners rescued him from an awful situation and were nursing him back to health and he is only 2, just to have this happen. I was so angry seeing that story on the news. Hopefully the person or persons will be caught. Chance looked so sad on the news report, of course that may have been the pain killers too. But he wasn't sad because he was trying to impress another horse, he was sad because of a stupid human and what he/she did. Poor animal, he doesn't deserve what he has been exposed to in his short lifetime.
So
Poor Bunny. It's all part of the journey of growing up with things that suck.
I got used to it years ago.
Thanks for hosting the Sobriety Society so well Scott! You rock!
John is getting his next bonus next week and I am going to get the Dyson pet hair vac. I can not wait.
Who knew this crazy chick would ever get excited over a vac.
Give Bunny kisses and scratches :)
Just to set the record straight on the horse I commented on. On the news tonight an Equine Vet examined the horse and it was NOT shot, more than likely it was kicked by another horse. Good gosh! But thankful there wasn't anyone there to abuse that horse.
So
Loved the Charlie C quote :)
If I turn on my vacuum cleaner, Theo just grabs the whole thing with his big ass jaws and carries it off...to kill it. I like that in a dog, cause I don't like to vacuum anyway.
Poor Bunny! How do you clean with all that vomiting going on?
Bunny is trying to tell you that a messy house is a happy house.
I like the quote from Charlie. I've decided I'd rather live in peace than rest in peace.
Interesting note: Thursday was 'open discussion' at my a.m. meeting so I threw out the topic of intimate relationships and how our alcoholic thinking and emotions screwed them up. Most of the men shared; NONE of the women did. Go, men!
