IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

06.17.07

It was out of the depths of loneliness, depression and despair that I sought the help of A.A. As I recovered and began to face the emptiness and ruin of my life, I began to open myself to the possibility of the healing that recovery offers through the A.A. program. By coming to meetings, staying sober, and taking the Steps, I had the opportunity to listen with increasing attentiveness to the depths of my soul. Daily I waited, in hope and gratitude, for that sure belief and steadfast love I had longed for in my life. In this process, I met my God, as I understand Him. ~Daily Reflections
Today I am grateful...
  • for prayers for a friend's 23 year old daughter that died from an overdose. He had just been waiting, knowing it was more than likely. Upon the news, he, being 18 years sober, headed for a meeting to be with other alcoholics that understood.
  • for the joy of napping during the rain
  • for the pleasure of visiting an artist in his home and a tour of his studio
  • to know that my Higher Power has blessed my loved ones
  • for the privilege of hearing Angela P's story again. Her laughter, zest for life and love of 19 years in the program of AA is inspiring.
  • that we got to spend time with Pam and her daughter, Laura, last night. A meeting and a drag fundraiser and a lot of laughter.
  • for the comfort of "fitting in"
When you come to the end of all the light you know, and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: Either you will be given something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly. ~Edward Teller

Oh that is so tragic to loose a child to this Dz. In such darkness it is magical that this person has a support group that is loving him and carrying him thru this time.

Oh no, that is so tragic. I am so very thankful that my son is getting the help he needs. Not to mention how thankful I am that you are continuing your recovery. I cannot even imagine losing a child, especially in that way. Prayers with your friend.

Love you,

So

Thank you for sharing, Scott W. Your shared knowledge justified my centered post but the title, date and welcome note are still centered.

Anyway, thanks Scott W. I added an updates to my post just for you.

I'm gonna have a great week whether I'm centered or not. Thanks for the reminders too.
