Today I am grateful...
- that you can click HERE and light a candle for AIDS research. All you have to do is light the candle with your cursor (free to you) and Bristol-Myers Squibb will donate $1 to AIDS research.
- that today is World AIDS Day
- for protease inhibitors that have the power to extend the lives of those infected with HIV
- to remember those we have lost to the devastating disease, those who are suffering worldwide and those who hold the virus in their bodies today and are still healthy. Those early days of the disease when it was called GRID (gay-related immunodeficiency disease) and gay cancer, were so scary. There were rampant rumors and we, as gay men, were terrified. We have since come to know that it, like other diseases, makes no preference to race, religion, creed or sexual preference. Today is the day to remember those who have lost loved ones to this disease, too.
- for the strength and love of the lesbians at Lambda Center that held the men who were suffering, dying and surviving the early days of AIDS. They truly kept the center alive. We owe them much gratitude.
- for former president Bill Clinton's Clinton Foundation for AIDS
- that today my life is full of recovery. I have a terrific support group and a group of blogging drunks to help me stay sober today.
- for cafe au lait and beignets with Angela P yesterday
- to remember Chester. He would have been 17 today.
Chester, my companion. I was able to make a living amends to him as he was blind during his last three years and ultimately succumbed to doggy Alzheimers. I miss you, Boogerhead.

Thank you Scott. Your gratitude leaped of the screen and got all over me, and I am needing me some gratitude today.
Happy Birthday Chester and thanks Scott.
Hey Chester!
Tears in my eyes for Chester, but, he had a good life and a good Daddy.
He is very much missed.
So
I will light candles on line and in my home and heart for those I have lost to AIDS too... Thank you Scott for the gratitude reminder in the face of it.
And Chester, Happy Birthday and give kisses to the boogerheads that used to be mine. I miss them each so much.
