IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

One of the great gifts of sobriety is learning to see beauty in things not always with the eyes, but with the feeling of the heart. --Shelley

Today I am grateful...
  • for the dream I had just before waking. My Higher Power was seated at a desk in a corner of the big room at Lambda, I was leading the meeting and the west wall was floor to ceiling chalkboard on which HP had written the names of everyone in attendance and what they might share. It was a fifth step meeting but it turned political and after a short time most people got up and left. I have no clue what that was about, but I got to sit face to face with my Higher Power at that desk and that gives me comfort.
  • for conscious contact
  • that HP continues to redefine my attitude
  • for the mysteries of having a spiritual experience
  • to strive for equanimity
  • that I have been allowed to have this day and the freedom to make choices

When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on. --Franklin D. Roosevelt

When you get in a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn. --Harriet Beecher Stowe

I told the operator I wanted to talk to Alcoholics Anonymous - this was 28 years ago - so instead of giving me the Central Office she gave me the local Alano Club. The person picked up and said: "Hello." and gave the phone number. I said: "I want to talk to whoever's in charge." - I always believed in going immediately to the top. And there was a hell of an argument on the other end, as they snatched the phone away from each other while they decided who was in charge. Finally, one guy got on and said - and doesn't this make sense? Listen to this; he said: "Our Higher Power can't speak to you on the phone right now, but I have been authorized to speak in His behalf on any issues of recovery." -from the book "AlkieSpeak"
