You will not have that for which you ask, nor can you have anything you want. This is because your very request is a statement of lack, and your saying you want a thing only works to produce that precise experience—wanting—in your reality.
.
The correct prayer is therefore never a prayer of supplication, but a prayer of gratitude.
.
.
When you ask God in advance for that which you choose to experience in your reality, you, in effect, acknowledge that it is there…in effect. Thankfulness is thus the most powerful statement to God; an affirmation that even before you ask, I have answered.
.
Therefore never supplicate. Appreciate. ~page 11, Conversations with God

Today I am grateful...
- that the above quote changed my life. I realized one day that I have been cared for and given all the provisions every day for 54+ years. I am now working a spiritual program. Why would the God of my understanding drop me now?
- that I want all the promises. Which one would you want to do without?
- that I woke before the alarm, am doing a load of laundry and will soon enough head out for our client way out west
- that I was at odds with my temperament last night, but I made it through
- that my heart is glad today, my soul relaxed and my attitude serene
Not to move according to the direction of God as we understand Him is to fall backwards and stagnate. Each positive action we take strengthens our recovery. ~Food for Thought

I'm hoping that you don't have to ride in a covered wagon "way out west" today, because it looks like rain out there. :)
I'm working on gratitude this morning as my mantra for the day and your quote has really helped me.
Hi Scott.
yes, what a powerful quote. it changed the way i pray. love you.
God bless your journey today and your next 54+ years...
I love you sooooooo So!
Hey Pam.....I could hitch up the wagon that I don't have and head down yonder for a spell. I'd be proud to cart my So in a wagon out west. Uh, but first I'd have to train my mare or gelding to pull. Well, never mind.
Go west, young man.
I want all the promises to come true too. Thankfully, they are doing just that.
The wild wild west? Great quotes.
I've had AA members who thought the "Promises" said we would have economic security. It does not say that ...it says "FEAR of economic insecurity will leave us.
Big difference and, to me, it means that I am happy when my needs are met and not to worry about all those wants, that never matter in the long run.
If you ever keep going west, please call.
i forgot that i have that food for thought meditation book, must find it....
love the conversations with god part.
