- that as much as I love cold, damp days we have a forecast of sun and 78ยบ
- for the irony of Dave being born on St. Patrick's Day (tomorrow) or would that be coincidence?
- that since I long ago got out of the habit of giving thanks for my food, and can't seem to get that habit back, I offer that in my morning prayers
- for some solutions to my storage problems, a bit of cleaning out and the idea of adding a shelf to some dead space
- for the peace and calm of my morning routine
Going it alone in spiritual matters is dangerous. How many times have we heard well-intentioned people claim the guidance of God when it was all too plain that they were sorely mistaken. Lacking both practice and humility, they had deluded themselves and were able to justify the most arrant nonsense on the ground that this was what God had told them. It is worth noting that people of very high spiritual development almost always insist on checking with friends or spiritual advisers the guidance they feel they have received from God. Surely, then, a novice ought not lay himself open to the chance of making foolish, perhaps tragic, blunders in this fashion. While the comment or advice of others may be by no means infallible, it is likely to be far more specific than any direct guidance we may receive while we are still so inexperienced in establishing contact with a Power greater than ourselves. ~12 & 12, p. 60.

I'm all about adding shelves!
I always give thanks for the noon time meal but can never remember at breakfast, supper or the 10 snacks I have in between.
I can not wait for the warm weather to come back. My hair looks better when it's not raining.
Among the long, perpetual, "to do list" in my life is that I'm paying a lot for storage on stuff that's worth next to nothing but can't seem to make any progress on sorting and getting rid of what must go.
I just ask God for the grace to eventually get past this block...
...and, I hope yours sorts out fine as well...
Yes.
I'm into organizing and making the closets functional. I cleared out everything and installed wooden drawers and all kinds of cool stuff for storage in the closets. It looks like a California closet system but at 1/4 the price.
I like checking in with my sponsor daily.
With a small house I've learned to stack, shelve and use every available bit of wall space I have. One good rule to go by: if you haven't needed it or used it, taken it out to look over in a years time most likely you can live without it. (Hugs)Indigo
I love both of your quotes today. The second one is very wise and balanced. I found that kind of connection and wisdom through spiritual direction. In sd, the director can ask the questions that help you decide or discuss angles or options you are not aware of, and they make a commitment to pray for you and with you. I love that the decision and choice is always your own, when all that is done. No one is making the decision for you. For me that is that healthy balance:) Thanks, jeanne
When I need storage space, I sneak behind the quickie mart and steal milk crates. But I am going to take them back when I'm done with them.
I went to a lunch function at church today and the blessing was so beautiful - I wondered why I don't make it more of a habit.
I'm still finding out that God DOES 'talk' to me, quite often, during each day. He more than likely speaks through people, regularly through strangers, always through my AA meeting peeps, and infrequently through sounds, visuals, animals, engines, and such. Once in awhile, through objects inanimate..
When I listen, life handles easier, and decisions are usually taken care of--I mean the simple things, like should I go 'right' or 'left'?
I must be getting sleepy, I'm rambling...sorry.
