IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

The highest rank in AA: Sober. ~Ken
.
Today I am grateful...
  • that this headache I woke with will eventually fade away. bleh
  • that I get to meet with my sponsor today
  • that I do not feel that I am not worthy of sobriety and recovery. It makes me so sad to hear an alcoholic say that. If you have a child, would you not believe with all your heart that your child deserves the best from life, that it enjoy all the happiness it can? Why would a loving Higher Power create something, in its image, for it to be miserable?
  • that deserving doesn't automatically mean free without doing the work
  • or my new eating plan which leaves me feeling clearer and lighter

Norman V. Peale wrote that "God runs a beauty parlor," meaning that plain people with gracious thoughts tend to become more attractive as years wear on. We need not fear our own thoughts and feelings if we are continuing to work the program. As the sober years stretch out, we will be improving our thoughts and feelings, and this will tell others what the program is doing for us and through us. ~Walk in Dry Places

I so agree about the worthy statement. I've never understood why someone would say that.

I've always believe the sentiments that beauty fades, the heart remains. To me someone who works on that part of them shows a true beauty. Soberiety to me is that beauty, to see life through unblemished eyes. (Hugs)Indigo

The 2nd quote reminds me of late bloomers. There are a lot of those in my family. That is one reason I remain so hopeful!

My mother used to say that by the time a person is 40, they have the face they "deserve." A lifetime of smiles leave their mark.

Thanks for making me smile Scott.

It's sad some people don't feel worthy of sobriety. Great example there Scott.

PS- I loved your comment on my blog today. You are 100% right!!

Hi Scott ... I just wanted to leave a note to say I really like your blog. I believe gratitude is my way of connecting to a power greater than myself, and I'm grateful for fellow bloggers like you who reinforce that!
