IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

Suppose we fall short of our chosen ideals and stumble? Does this mean we are going to get drunk? Some people tell us so. But this is only a half-truth.
Today I am grateful...
  • that R had TiVOed the Olympics opening ceremony and during it we saw the cutest commercial ever. See it HERE. I was astounded by the technology displayed during the ceremony, and just the sheer number of players. 15,000 individual participants!
  • that those boys have learned to make the best cheese enchiladas I have ever had
  • that there is still a chance for Tibet to be free
  • that my mind is free from the compulsion to drink
  • for yesterday's meeting on criticism and judgement. When I was young and told my mother I hated a certain singer/dancer/Rat Pack member she asked me if there was anything I did like. My response was, "Not much." I have carried a tendency to be overly critical and judgemental. I don't like those character defects. I will offer this up this morning and be open for their removal.

It depends on us and on our motives. If we are sorry for what we have done, and have the honest desire to let God take us to better things, we believe we will be forgiven and will have learned our lesson. If we are not sorry, and our conduct continues to harm others, we are quite sure to drink. These are facts out of our experience. ~today's quote from the Big Book, p. 70

If you come across the right prayer let me know. I pray the 7th step prayer every single morning on my critical judgemental thinking. I guess some days I'm more willing than others.
If everyone would just "act right" I would not have to be this way ;)

on being critical -- sounds like me.

I've generally been most critical of myself. The program has helped me to give myself some slack and acceptance.

Most of us have a tendency to be critical. I have noticed it in myself and you as well. Actually in most people. I wonder what makes us like that? hummmmm

Scott, it appears to me that you like to eat! Not that I'm being critical...

Cheese enchilladas? Yum. Critical, now I would not dare point a critical finger at anyone. The other four would knock me over. But I do sometimes, it's one of those defects that just hangs on. But I do my best to keep it cage.

Crap, I stumble each and EVERY day! Keep gettin' back up. Fortunately--so far--each stumble has lead to the next step...UP!

Thank you Scott W., for the quote AND description of Olympics Opening--I missed it all.

I think that the Coke company owes you at least a big thank you (however a big check would be even better!). The "birds" in the commercial resembled your artwork (IMHO).
