IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

How do we punish those momentarily gone wrong? Do we try hurting with words - jab them in the heart with some spear-shaped phrases, slap them in the face with an insult or two? Maybe we like to poison them with a strong dose of silence. Have we tried to make them feel bad by making them feel sorry for us? Do we remind them daily that what went wrong with our lives is really all their fault?

We must remember that we are the rulers of our own lives only, and this knowledge gives us the power to punish only ourselves. It also gives us control over our lives, so that others' actions need not wrong us, and we need not punish.
Today I am grateful...
  • that yesterday on my errand running adventures I stopped by Value Village (a second hand thrift store). What is usually hit and miss yesterday was all hit! Four shirts and a pair of brand new black khakis for $19.35! Who's bad?
  • for the luxury lunch KAS and I had yesterday and the time we spent together setting up my new computer. Hope to have it here Saturday.
  • that I don't have to stick to conference approved material on this blog
  • that I do understand the reason for conference approved material being the only appropriate reading material at AA meetings
  • that humans, over the ages, have expressed themselves through writing, music and art. There is such an incredible amount of expression on this planet.

Before coming to this program we died, emotionally and spiritually, many times. Some of us nearly died physically. But here we are, starting a new day, looking for guidance from one another. We are the survivors. ~all quotes from Hazelden Today's Thought

Effervescent expression is everywhere, not just on Earth.
You oughta see what it's like on Uranus!

Dear Scott
After reading your blog and the many posts I realized how I totally forgot the gratitude principle.
Thanks for the reminder and cool blog

Everything hit home with me today. The first passage especially. ouch.
Value Village is groovy. I like Family Thrift the best though. I've bought about 20 shirts there this summer and have spent maybe $25.00. Ms. SoberPants LIVES at Value Village.

So, you were here at Value Village? Did you see any Peter Max towels there? The one I bought when I was like 11 is pretty worn out. Actually I lost it sometime during the years.

You did hit some bargains. I haven't gone shopping in a long time. Nothing much I need. I like the quotes that you use BTW.

No one in my life has ever gone wrong... all is only what I perceive it to be. All is exactly as it is supposed to be.

Learn well, live well.

I went to "Savers" with my daughter the other night. It freaked me out. I am so bad. I kept thinking that dead people had worn the clothes - and the shoes. ooooh.

I think your blog should be conference approved. I'll bet Micky-Patrick's is.

I love thrift shops. Haven't been in a while, though. I also like walmart and target.
