IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

07.24.08

When we know the truth and accept that we may have to adjust our lives to accommodate, we are in alignment with reality. At the same time, we can be patient with people around us who have a hard time seeing the truth, because we know how painful it can be. Whatever the truth is, we make a sincere effort not to close our eyes to it, but instead to be grateful that we have access to it. ~Daily Om
Today I am grateful...
  • that my mind is open to spiritual concepts
  • that yesterday I had a friend celebrate 24 years of sobriety, one attended a funeral of someone killed in their addiction, one attended a funeral of a nephew that had been reduced to diapers and a wheelchair by their addiction, someone let go of their mother, and a sister take her cancer treatments. They all did it without taking a drink of alcohol.
  • that my Higher Power gave me what I needed to make it into the rooms of recovery
  • for genuine appreciation that today my life is good and better than I would have imagined
Resentment is from the Latin, meaning to 'feel again.' Rather than feeling that again, think of how it could have been worse, then be grateful it isn't. Once you get to the grateful part, you can't be resentful. I cannot be grateful and resentful at the same time; I can't serve two masters. ~Pocket Sponsor

It always amazes me, Scott, when we stay sober no matter if the situation is good or horribly bad.
It really shows the strength of the AA program.
