"Instead of telling God how big your fears are, start telling your fears how big your God is."
That quote is the focus of the first week in a year's worth of self-inquiry in Michael Z's book, The Wisdom of the Rooms. Following each quote there are six questions to aid you in studying your understanding of the quotes. It can prove to be a rich aid in any recovering person's evolution.
Miracles take place every day in the rooms of 12 step recovery programs across the world. Recovering men and women share their experience, strength and hope in meetings and in one-on-one encounters. Some of the richest wisdom you will ever hear you can be overheard in the rooms of AA and other programs. In this book are 52 quotes gathered from the rooms of recovery.
That first quote really let me focus on my fears. My fears were huge when I got sober, but today they are diminished by doing step work, prayer and meditation, and developing a faith that carries me onward. But by spending a week focusing on this quote and the questions I was able to have a greater understanding.

Scott, way off of AA topic, but I thought I could "brag" a bit to you that my one and only grandchild was born in Guangxi province and adopted last year by my adopted daughter and her husband who was also adopted.
I saw your post on MC's blog and couldn't agree more.
Oh, and I am still alive, just a piss poor blogger, although you personally might enjoy the post I did today.. Or not...
"Instead of telling God how big your fears are, start telling your fears how big your God is."
and what a great quote it is!
Wow, that really is an amazing quote. Sometimes it's best just to take a little piece of wisdom like that and think about it, roll it around in your head, and feel it out. I'd love to hear more about your journey. Thanks for the book recommendation!
