HERE is the house I mentioned yesterday. It's fab!
Discipline gives us the means to enjoy life. Some would say that discipline is limiting, that the spirit should be free from any kind of rules or limits so as to foster creativity. But creativity without focus, without skills, is wasted. Without a disciplined understanding of light and perspective, the artist cannot express herself. Without disciplined study of language and culture, the writer cannot adequately convey his insight. Without disciplined knowledge of chords and rhythms, the musician cannot express his creativity.
Discipline gives life a context. It is not confining, but rather is enabling. Without discipline there is confusion. Yes, your spirit can soar without discipline, but it cannot stay aloft for long that way. Discipline is the foundation for accomplishment.
Discipline is not ever the easiest option. It is a full time activity. You can't just be disciplined in one area of your life -- true discipline must be consistent. ~Ralph Marston

Today I am grateful...
- that last night I found the most pleasure in the simplest of things. Music took me back in time with that odd physically felt thing music memories do. Bunny's joy in anticipation of a treat. Moving paint around on a canvas.
- for the sobriety to feel moments like those above
- for the phrase 'A life unexamined is a life unlived.' Was the Einstein?
- that I have been willing to work on me
A great many people think they are thinking when they are only rearranging their prejudices. ~William James

Thanks for taking the time to put out your posts. It is appreciated.

Discipline ought not be confused with oppression and/or punishment. Is it paradoxical that a freedom from bondage of self enables discipline, or just kinky?
Me thinks Mr Howard did a fine job however way too modern for my taste. But beautiful I must say.
Oh,the built ins! Gorgeous house.

Music. Dog. Paint.
I may have to come hang out. I promise not to bring any thrash or hardcore punk. Lol.
House? Gallery? Yeah, it's you!
Dear Scott,
thank you for "thanks" in trying to care for that precious little dog. Bless it's heart, I just get surprised every morning and evening when I come home and find him still hanging in there.
If only he would allow me or anyone to get within close range.
My joy is that he is still alive and eats and drinks what I put out for him. I must pray for the strength to face what we all know will be the future, however.
Mamie does not get excited about snacks or treats. Dolly did. Mamie does not like storms, she is glued to me this afternooon.
A google search for that quote comes up with socrates, aristotle, and plato. Your blog also comes up.
Too much time on my hands at an airport is not a really good thing.

Theo's treats are the size of my arm.
