IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

He had come to pass his experience along to me if I cared to have it. I was shocked, but interested. Certainly I was interested. I had to be, for I was hopeless. ~Bill's Story
Today I am grateful...
  • for a great birthday night celebration. I was one of the many that left the room as the gentleman who decided it was his turn to tell his life story droned on and on. Otherwise it was splendid.
  • that I hung 13 pieces at the gallery yesterday. I added a few pieces to the ones already there.
  • that I am working on a painting with flowers on it. I never paint flowers.
  • for the love of other alcoholics that keep me centered. Some I have never even met (in person).
  • that there is a solution

I love these gratitude posts. It's great. Have read any of the gratitude posts over at Adversity University Blog? They really pick me up--maybe you should check them out.

Today, I'm grateful for the beautiful whether outside, open windows, light breezes, green leaves on the trees, and the ability to write.

Well I can't wait to see the flowers. I loved the red tree you did a long time ago. I'm not into "droning"

Good luck on the 13 pieces. Hope you post the flowers when finished.

I overheard 2 people this morning discussing how rude it was for so many people (me included) to leave the Big Room while that gentlemen told his life story.
WHATEVER.

Dave, it's also rude for someone celebrating amongst others to hold a room at hostage so they can drone on and on about their SHIT.

One ought never ever ever leave a share...no matter how dull or selfish. One might just miss hearing the one thing that might save one's life tomorrow.

My 2 cents worth, boys.

Scott - I ripped one of your posts for my place. Hope you don't mind. I'll take it down if you do.

Rock on, matey!

Sorry, Kenny, but the night was for every one celebrating to share a short while. It is not a time to tell your story, unless it is brief. I will not play into that self serving behavior, nor will I be held hostage by such.

What if someone needs to pee? Is it okay to leave during a share then?

Generally, I will not leave, no matter what. But occasionally - yes. You have to.

OK, honestly, I mean, gosh ... come on people!

I remember one time leaving a speaker meeting that I thought was mind-numbing and incredibly dull. I was about to share my annoyance with a fellow AA and then overheard the man behind me. He said "that man told my story. I've never been able to relate before". It really brought me up short and proved that this AA thing works for everyone, not just for me.

I have felt like leaving a meeting for various reasons but never have. I usually hear what I need to hear regardless of how my ego feels.

To any of you that have never left a meeting, good for you. I still will not be held hostage by self-serving behavior.
