I'll be pleased today that I can remember the past without living in it. I am free from the old hurts and problems that would keep me from directing all of my energies and attention to what I am doing here and now. ~Walk in Dry Places
Today I am grateful...
- that I am now a VIP member of live365.com and have uninterrupted Internet radio
- for the great first step meeting and for Walter who was at his first meeting and picked up a desire chip
- that we are at our best when we are rallying around another drunk
A friend will see us at our worst, as well as our best. A friend will not close his or her heart when we have made a mistake. A friend will not condemn us but will compassionately support our return to a state of grace. ~Marianne Williamson

I said the same thing yesterday about rallying around another drunk. It's one of the great gifts of being in recovery (I think).
Thanks for sending Chester. I wonder if there's a special room for dogs of recovering drunks.
For people like me, whose dog is like my child, I can only imagine what it is like for human children to live with alcoholic parents. The nights I came home plastered, "walked" Kipling, and made it back to the door would have been horrendous for her if she were a human child. I am grateful that I did not grow up in an alcoholic family. Being an alcoholic, though, and having a pet as a child, I can sort of realize all the damage that can be done to little human beings as they grow up around drunk parents. I have much to be grateful for.
I'm glad that Chester and Dolly will romp together. And it makes me smile to know that you and Dave were there to welcome someone who needed help. And by doing so you helped yourselves as well. Good for you.
Your Chester and My Dolly. What a romp. Thanks so much for your words. It was grand to wake up and read all the love from my brother bloggers.
Was the documentary of the Hugging Saint followed by one about the Singing Nun?
Rallying around another drunk is a wonderful thing.
