IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

04.17.08

In my recovery I am beginning to understand that so much "power" in the world is really fear. The power that seeks to attack first in order to feel secure is really fear. The power that always has to have an answer is really fear. The power that arrogantly refuses to listen is really fear. So much power is "fear" dressed in illusion!
Today I am grateful...
  • for kindred spirits
  • that this day will make available to me what I need
  • that today I am one day further from my last drink
  • that today I hope to have the time to drive out west to pick up me new mattress
  • that I asked to have the awareness today that I walk in companionship with my Higher Power
  • for things done for me that I cannot do for myself
Spiritual power has the ability to be vulnerable. It can live with confusion. It can stand alone. It allows others to walk away to pursue their happiness. Spiritual power can exist in suffering and loneliness, and it does not expect perfection.
My recovery is teaching me to live and let others live, too. My freedom must respect the freedom of others; respect is a two-way street! ~Fr Leo

You'd best go and fetch that mattress item. You want to sleep on a pillow tonight!!!

I haven't told you lately how proud I am of you so I say it now, I am proud of my So. Mom and Dad are too. :)

How far west?
Far?
ROAD TRIP, shot gun!, I get the radio, how much further?, I gotta pee!, I'm hungry, I spy something orange!, are we there yet? Slow down, get around that guy, turn left...whoa wait I mean right.
Yeah....you'd love a trip with me.

Pam, it's only I-10 and Kirkwood. But it might as well be out of town for me. I hate driving on the Katy Freeway!!!

Out West has a great connotation--like a wagon train. Maybe Trailboss will lead it and Pam will be the side kick.

Go via memorial Drive if you want to avoid I-10.

I love your comments about power and fear. Never thought about that way, but of course you're right. Thanks for the "Brain Click"

OK...whoa there everyone!
we went from a nice drive to being thrown in the trunk, then to a wagon train to a mule!!
I gotta have me some air conditioning !!!
And my bo-hiney requires comfy seats.

LOL!!! If you had gone for the ride you would have been laid out back to front. I had to let all three seats down so the mattress, rolled up, would fit. The traffic was horrible but it only took just over an hour round trip.

From my perspective, you're already out west. But, then again, nearly everyone is.

Sleep well, and wake up another day further & farther from your last drink.

Wow. Today was apparently Fear day. Started at 6:45 ET here with the subject of a discussion meeting being, yep, "fear." Then had a 4th step work session with a sponsee so we could address, yep, fears. Now, just in case I hadn't gotten the message loud and clear, this handy-dandy little Texas 2x4 of fear upside the head.

Thanks. A wonderful post.
