It's a simple formula: Do your best and somebody might like it. ~Dorothy Baker
Today I am grateful...
  • for lunch with a newcomer yesterday
  • that over the weekend I completed two small drawings on panel and made great progress on a large one
  • that Daily Piglet turned me on to Grammar Girl
  • that I can be a bit accepting of clutter in my life
  • that I have today and all it gives me--just for the taking

The chief activator of our defects has been self-centered fear--primarily fear that we would lose something we already possessed or would fail to get something we demanded. Living upon a basis of unsatisfied demands, we were in a state of continual disturbance and frustration. Therefore, no peace was to be had unless we could find a means of reducing these demands. The difference between a demand and a simple request is plain to anyone. ~12 & 12, pg 76

Fear is my primary defect. But every day things get a little better.

Fear is mine, too. And it is usually supported by shame. bleh

My sponsor led a good meeting Saturday on fear. Those words from the 12x12 sum it up nicely. When I worked through my 4th and 5th steps, I was amazed to see how many of the items on my list boiled down to simple fear.

The good ole 12 x 12. It's filled with little jewels. But you have to mine it to find them. Thanks.

self centered fear, an ugly truth but the basis for most anything that ails me.
