IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

It's great when we can meet the world with a balance. We are honest people. We can expect others to be fair with us. We get the faith, strength, and courage to do this because of our trust in our Higher Power. ~Keep It Simple
Today I am grateful...
  • for the new and improved relationships the program of recovery has given me
  • that my Higher Power and I daily strive to watch my anger
  • that for a long time--many, many years--I have had exactly what I need for each day
  • for discussion with HP about rearranging my thoughts so I think more like a sane individual instead of the crazy alcoholic
  • that this weekend we had the most sparkling, perfect weather
  • for the fun photos I got from Scott of Cleves yesterday (see post below)
  • for the memories of cool Spring nights in Kentucky growing up, playing hide and seek, catching lightening bugs and how black the sky was and how brightly the stars shined

In my sickness I was always living in the future; what would tomorrow bring? Will I die crippled, lonely and afraid? My projections into the future produced an emotional pain. Today I do not need to do this. I welcome old age because I bring into it the joy and experience of my sobriety. Will I be lonely? I doubt it if I stick to my recovery program; I have so many friends all over the world meeting together to face the disease on a daily basis. Also I know that nothing could ever compare with the loneliness of my drinking days. ~Fr Leo

Baby, the stars shine bright.

That Fr. Leo quotation made me think of how I used to awaken in the night, gripped by worry. I'm glad that hasn't happened since I learned to turn things over to HP.

I don't think that we'll ever be lonely or abandoned because there is a connection with our HP. I liked your description of growing up in Kentucky. It sounds much like my childhood evenings. Life was very simple then.

Don't forget flashlight tag and poker right outside of my bedroom window. Oh, wait, you didn't play stip poker with me, that was some of the boys in the neighborhood!

Seriously though, I did love our simple days of being a child. We were very lucky to have what we had and parents that truly loved and cared for us.

The fun of coming home after a short trip is to catch up on POSTS.
Enjoyed all three days as usual. Love the Fr. Leo quote.
