What is self-centeredness? It is our belief that the world revolves around us. Our wishes, our demands are the only ones worth consideration. Our self-centered minds believe they are capable of getting everything they want if only they would be left to their own devices. SeIf-centeredness assumes total self-sufficiency.
Today I am grateful...
- for that first prayer of the day, from the side of the bed: Thank you for the blessings of this day and for keeping me sober within them
- that my hearing test showed a 70% increase in my hearing since the surgery. The audiologist was surprised at the results! The Dr also said that a 15% portion of the eardrum is receding, which could lead to a colestatoma. That my Eustachian tube is probably not working correctly and as such causing the drum to be sucked inward. That this may have been the original cause of the perforation. (TMI? Sorry.) So we have to keep a watch on it.
- that I marveled yesterday while eating lunch, that I can wander into a sandwich shop and order good food at a reasonable cost and sit in clean surroundings
- that tuna salad is really good with red onions and Swiss cheese
- for the choices I have today, for the grace in my life, that just for today I will have what I need
We strip away our delusion of self-sufficiency by admitting our own powerlessness and seeking the aid of a Power greater than ourselves. We acknowledge the bankruptcy of our self-righteousness by admitting we've been wrong, making amends, and seeking knowledge of what's right from the God our understanding. And we deflate our overwhelming sense of self-importance by seeking to serve others, not only ourselves. ~quotes from NA Just for Today

That clean livin' is paying off, you big-eared art-star, you!
That's great new about your hearing improvements and great news about the tuna sandwich too!
I agree with Bill and Daave. When I was a kid I used to sing my heart out on the front porch to Gogi Grants "The Wayward Wind. I just knew I would be discovered by a passing talent scout. Ha. Right.
In CHannelview, Texas. NOPE!
Hear! Hear!
I want to sit on your left side and whisper to you...just to see. Of course it won't be anything vulgar...unless that's what you want of course.
