The solution is not to fight problems in ourselves or in the outer world. By turning all matters over to the Higher Will, we will find the best way to deal with the evils within ourselves and with the opposition in our world. "Self-will run riot" was a problem in drinking, and it can be equality destructive in sobriety. Our will should be joined with the Higher Will for true success in living. ~Walk in Dry Places
Today I am grateful...
- to be sober amongst the sober
- that I wound up, after all, in the winner's circle
- that one of the things recovery has given me is self-confidence, because when I was drinking I couldn't hold my head up straight. I was always looking at the ground.
- that I am in acceptance that what I had to go through to get here was what it was. Now I am here and have a life that is satisfying.
- that today I get to meet an old friend, who took me to rehab the first time, for lunch and then a tour of the gallery show. She was unable to make it for the opening. I have a copy of Conversations with God for her.
As an alcoholic I was selfish and demanding, wanting my way all the time. Sobriety teaches me that "the way" must include others; my fellow men are part of my life and journey. I cannot live in isolation and be sober. ~Fr Leo

I love your line on acceptance! It's very "right-on"
What a wonderful happening today.
Have a fantastic weekend.
About you holding your head up high; so wonderful.
I hope your friend enjoyed your show as much as I did.
Scott is in the winners' circle. Yay!
I stopped by here and left a comment at 9:17pm.
I believe that accepting what I went through to get where I am will come to me, but I'm still working on it.
I'll bet you found a lot of spare change when you were looking at the ground. And gum wrappers.
