IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

Letting go is the action part of faith. It is a behavior that gives God and the Universe permission to send us what we're meant to have. Letting go means we acknowledge that hanging on so tightly isn't helping to solve the problem, change the person, or get the outcome we desire. It isn't helping us. In fact, we learn that hanging on often blocks us from getting what we want and need. ~The Language of Letting Go

Today I am grateful...
  • that I have been allowed to be where I am today. That I have this time to heal.
  • that healing is in my Higher Power's time, not mine
  • that I got out of the house last night and riding in the back seat did not give me vertigo. I wore my eyeglasses although doing so is creepy since the temple plate sits over the incision. We had dinner in my Mom's favorite Houston restaurant, a warm and friendly place, across the street from where I once lived and adjacent to several gay bars. Then home to R's for a little TV. 30 Rock is so funny!
  • that So is getting a little respite
  • that I actually miss attending meetings. There was a time in a previous sober incarnation where I would have not believed that to be possible. I miss my chair. I miss my friends. I miss my sponsor. I miss the physical presence of the Lambda Center. I miss the healing of room #3. And there is a very good chance I will be there today.
  • that I find my spirituality in every aspect of my life
open hands

Gratitude is one of the sweet shortcuts to finding peace of mind and happiness inside. No matter what's going on outside of us, there's always something we could be grateful for. ~Barry Neil Kaufman

Yummy! and just across from where we lived! It was Mom's favorite place to eat in Houston, I almost forgot she loved it so. I am so enjoying my time with just me and my daughter. Peace in the house at last!

I really like the theme of your blog. I too am in recovery. I have 15 years being clean and sober. Even today, I find myself needing to remember the attitude of gratitude. I do not walk this path alone, most of the time I am carried.

I have a friend who is going through recovery now. he had a very well hidden problem and is now seeking help. No one knew about it. I thought by reading through other people's experiences it would help me to understand what he is going through and how I could help, which it has, but more so, I've found inspiration and help that I can apply to my life as well. Nice blog, I'll be reading.

I fear that you give god too much credit. You've done it all yourself, my dear.

If not you, who?

Believe in yourself
Not some unseen elf
Go with the flow
god's not your bro

Scott,

Thanks. Great post.

Thought I'd share with you my morning prayer of gratitude, sort of a cobbling together of a Feng shui prayer of abundance and a dedication to the Four Absolutes.

Thank you God for the opportunity to to enjoy this day of abundance. Give me the guidance to fill it with honesty, unselfishness, love and purity.

Peace

Hey found your blog as a fav on blogspot. I love that gratitude is the centerpiece. I feel there is so much to be thankful for. It really isn't about what we have, but how we enjoy it. Cheers.

excellent but the same goal can be achieved to act upon Islamic Teachings
Islam's teachings stress and give message to others for
living in the state of Attitude of Gratitude always.
