IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

Magritte's 'la Golconde'

Freedom is not enough. ~Lyndon B. Johnson

Freedom from dependence is not enough. We also want to be happy, and to do something with our lives. So each day we keep learning, we keep growing. Each day without alcohol or other drugs is a gift, a gift...

The club house yesterday was eerily quiet. Everyone was at the Round Up, but the noon meeting was nice and intimate. Every person got to share. The topic was balance.

In yogic studies it is taught that the spiritual path is like walking on the razor's edge. It is so easy to veer off course. As a matter of thought we have to keep our priorities straight. There are things to help us stay on course...prayer, step work, fellowship, reaching out to others. If I were to isolate all those tools disappear. So I continue to show up.

I participate in my own recovery.

I went to Uncle Gary yesterday to have my eyeglass temple plates adjusted. My old glasses were not plastic and thus stayed in shape. I also had him tell me what the appropriate strength would be for readers. After my ear surgery next Wednesday I won't be able to wear my glasses, so I went to the 99¢ Store and got a pair for cheap. Now I can tear off the left temple plate and be able to read. Tricky, right? I also got cheap emery boards since the last time I manicured myself all the ones I had were worn down.

I woke from being snug under the covers with Bunny to the sound of the rain and the strain of a full bladder. I have the freedom today to get up when I please and to nap as I please.

I have many freedoms today. And I have a program that teaches me that without gratitude my thoughts will again start to overwhelm me and I will be off on some side street, way off from the razor's edge. Living on my self will run riot. Today I prefer to stay in touch with my Higher Power and turn my life and my will over. And to practice not taking it back.

I hope your Saturday fills you with the most delicious love for living. Be kind, we are all fighting the same battle.

It has been 1 month since I made the decision to change my Life and try walking on another path. I visited your site "randomly" and there was my friend Lord Ganesh. I think he is trying to tell me something because he appears like that... when i least expect it.

A cold, rainy day and a warm, snuggly dog...sounds like a great combination to me! It's chilly here in Virginia, and I'm baking banana bread, so I'm grateful, too.

I wonder if Bunny knows how good his life is?
There's all kinds of new folks reading your blog (yahoo), however I will only be able to "act right" on your comments section for a few more days, so your company will just have to get used to your "old" fans :)
Diggin' the rain.

Dear Scott,

what wonderful seasonal weather !

it poured down earlier and got very dark out for a time.

I am staying in, got the fireplace fired up and good music on the DVD player.

I'm glad you were supporting the Lambda Center and those folks.

Happy 4 years. What a lovely gift from Boston !

She's come such a distance - proud for you and all, me

Interesting post.

What I can't stand is patronising people, most of time I do know what I'm doing.

Sometimes I'm right and they are wrong.

Hello Scott,
I have observed that most AA members recover and celebrate their birthdays, however they get stagnant and do not reach their potential.

I believe that they have underlying clinical condition called Anxiety Depression (Endogenous Depression).

Do check this out with people you know for coming out from there will empower them and will be nothing short of a blessing. "...Freedom from dependence is not enough. We also want to be happy, and to do something with our lives..."
You may have a look at the HEALTHMETER -->

If underlying cause is treated by competent person, [thank god we have good treatment options now]there is no stopping.

Your art work rivets attention. I am amazed. Your heart work is amazing too.

It's funny how things go sometimes ... just a few days ago, 20th November, I wrote in my blog about how I was going to cross my 600th day without alcohol and nicotine running through my veins. It wasn't exactly my most positive post of all time, even though I DO feel good about it... I guess what I would like to say is that having visited and read your blog I now feel BETTER than 'just good' about it.

Thank you for that!

p.s. your art is incredible!

Freedom is the utmost thing every one has deeply rooted desire, but no body wants to be fully free,as we have no courage to remain free,To be free means we woe the responsibility and that we dont want.We alwayes try to to fix responsibility, for failure on others.Hope this is not hirting you
