IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. ~Marcel Proust

This afternoon the Houston Round Up starts and I am not particurarly interested in attending this year. Maybe that is a good reason to attend anyway. We will see. I will definitely go to the play and the Saturday night banquet/keynote speaker.

What I am looking forward to is today's big noon meeting. Every year the most grateful people in town gather to share their recovery with each other at Lambda Center. Afterwards we will share in a huge feast. There is something about breaking bread with others, it's something that nourishes us like nothing else.

I like the idea that today the whole country will step back and sigh and just pause from the usual routine of life. Most will be grateful for what they have been given. There are those, too, who are suffering--they are the ones that will be most on my mind today.

I am full of gratitude that today I am five days into my fifth year of sobriety.

This evening I will be with my extended family and we will have the traditional meal, then we will watch John Water's This Filthy World. I cannot wait. He has one of the most delightfully twisted minds in the world.

I am wishing for you and your loved ones the most satisfying Thanksgiving ever. Love each other and stay in gratitude.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity.... It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow. ~Melody Beattie

I caught a bit of the Today show this morning and they were talking about being thankful today. The guests actually said "Attitude of Gratitude" then quoted your scrolling prayer "If the only prayer you ever said was thanks that would be enough". I felt like jumping through the TV and telling America to come to your blog if they wanted to see what being grateful every single day was all about.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Also, I am so grateful So that you have your extended family to share your life with. Have a fantastic time both at Lambda and this evening with your loved ones. I love you **hug**kiss**

Are you referring ot the Lambda Center in Houston? I think it's a gay center for recovering alkies.
If so, what a coincidence!! I'm going to be there too. Maybe we will run into each other. But how will I know who you are?

dAAve, Scott will be the first one in line for the food. At least, that's what he told me earlier.

Scott, as usual, a beautiful post. You always give me something to roll around in my head and take to meetings with me so that I sound like I've learned something.

Bless you, and all the rest!

Scott, how can I buy some of your art pieces? They are stunning -- maybe I was just looking too quickly and missed the instructions. You can reach me at stormysleep@gmail.com.

Congratulations on your sobriety. God has too been dealing with me in this area. I have been a social drinking and He has freed me from needing to depend on that.
I realized that I was masking the pain I felt by drinking rather than dealing with the real issues.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Scott, congratulations on reaching this point in the ever-ongoing journey of sobriety. It, in itself, is a great reason to be thankful.

I hope your Thanksgiving was a wonderful and peaceful one with your family.

Even though I don't know you personally, I'm proud of your accomplishment and willingness to share your thoughts with others.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Scott

I found your blog on 'blogs of note' today, and enjoyed browsing it. I really like optimistic and uplifting reading! Thank you!

In fact, you and your readers may just like my blog too - which I only started recently - called 'Reasons to be Hopeful'. I post a single good news story every day. It often takes me ages to find one, but it's great when I do. I firmly believe that the world is not as bad as the media and many others portray it to be...

If you want to take a look it's at: http://reasonstobehopeful.blogspot.com - I do get a bit of debate every now and again, and it would be great to have you join in!

We are still celebrating Thanksgiving here in California. Just had dessert in fact... I am using my Mom's computer and was logging off blogger when they suggested I check out your blog. On a whim, I did, so here I am!

Congratulations on over 5 years of sobriety!!! What a victory! There is so much that endeavors to rob each of us of our purpose and destiny. I am sincerely thrilled that you are back on coarse!

I know in my life, Jesus is the glue! There have been many things that have tried to obstruct my own path and nearly got a hold of me. But God...

Best blessings for this new season!

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a traditional North American holiday to give thanks to God at the conclusion of the harvest season. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and on the second Monday of October in Canada.

Ironically,in the Philippines, Marcos proclaimed September 21 as the national thanksgiving day to conceal the repressive character of the New Society.

For obvious reasons, I do not celebrate Thanksgiving day on Sept.21.

Here are my five graces for Thanksgiving Day, 2007:

* I am grateful and give thanks for being alive and in good health this year and for the wonderful recovery of my son from a major health crisis. Thank you God.

* I am grateful and give thanks for the Filipino people being mature in their Faith in spite of the string of natural disasters and a litany of man-made crises that regularly afflict our nation. Thank you God.

* I am grateful for the strong survival instincts of our people in relying on their own skills and depending less on the government. Thank you God.

* I am grateful for all the country’s heroes who unselfishly gave up their lives for our country and continue to serve as our inspiration in this dark moment of our history. Thank you God.

* I am grateful and give thanks for the honor and privilege of having all of you to write and share this message with on Thanksgiving, 2007. Thank you God.

Nice work Scott. Gratitude is good. It is from where all other good things happen. What is gratitude if it does not extend to all peoples of the world. The African Americans built your nation. Has this gratitude you talk about extended to them? Has this gratitude extended to the starving millions of Africans? We are all a single family, how then can a part of this family roll in wealth and luxury while another part is in dire straits? These are pertinent questions you have to ask yourself Scott, and how you can address this discrepency even in a minute way. You are on the right track; I pray you will take it further. God Bless You Scott.
