IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

What a totally freaky experience it is to have three wisdom teeth extracted within 15 minutes time. Yesterday my jaw felt like I had been sucker punched. And I was concerned about the bleeding, but after the third round of damp tea bag compresses (no tea bagging comments please) it stopped. I was also muchly relieved that the anticipation was over. That anticipation stuff is what can make me the craziest.
I must tell you during the procedure I kept thinking about the days when there was no anesthesia. Oh. My. God. I cannot even imagine.
I had email conversations all afternoon with my sister and with Bill. I even got restless and started a painting. Jim made me delicious mashed potatoes with incredible gravy for dinner, and then there was pudding. I do not ever remember enjoying pudding as much as I did yesterday. And I have more for today. Anyway, for the most part, it's over with. I have to pay attention to what I eat and drink, but that's okay.

If you focus on resentment, you'll create many more things to resent. When you focus on gratitude, you'll bring many more things into your life for which to be thankful. By choosing your focus, you choose your lifestyle, the world around you, and your future. Focus on what is truly good and right and valuable for you, and you will be gloriously immersed in that goodness.
~Ralph Marston
Today I am grateful...
  • for the peaceful visuals I was able to imagine yesterday
  • for the pimple on my left temple, because it reminds me I don't get them like I used to
  • for all my loved ones and the joys they bring to my life
  • that my home state of Kentucky regained its Democratic governorship
  • for the joys of a little Boston Bulldog named Bunny
  • that it's downright chilly outside this morning
  • that gratitude is one of the highest blessings

Recover is not solely about stopping the pain. Recovery is about learning to make ourselves feel better; then it's about making ourselves feel good. ~Just for Today

Simple, but not easy; a price had to be paid. It meant destruction of self-centeredness. ~Bills Story, p. 13-14

there's a great baked potato soup at central market that pureed... and if you need soup, call me, i'm a chef... with my heart issues, i had to have two teeth pulled with no anesthesia... they just used ambesol... it was dreadful... now i've got my little device implanted and can finally have whatever they give you to deaden the area... they were afraid it would make my heart stop, now i can shock myself back... lol... and, i'm serious, if you need soup, let me know, i've got a long list of smooth soups... really!!!

Good morning Scott! So glad to hear to read that you survived the 'sucker punch'. That kind of stuff unhinges me and I admire your walking through it grace.

Obviously, the doctor only removed the wisdom from your teeth.

I am so glad that you are feeling OK. I was worried how you were going to feel when you woke up.
Aren't you proud of Dave for passing up the tea bag opening?
I sure do love the new twins picture...you are so special.

Dear Scott,

Oh, I'm glad that is over for you !
It is a blessing that you came through it without any complications.

Someone is Graced today for caring for you so well with the soup and puddings.

I love you and glad you're on the mend.

That's a good quotation about focus and choice. Here's something I heard last night:

Be careful of your thoughts;
your thoughts become your words.
Be careful of your words;
your words become your actions.
Be careful of your actions;
your actions become your habits.
Be careful of your habits;
your habits become your character.
Be careful of your character;
your character becomes your life.

So, for Gawd's sake, y'all, be careful!!! And, tis the season (almost), so be good for goodness sake.

Glad the bad teef are gone, Scott. Now we can look at you and say "Nice teeth...both of 'em!"
