Often it takes something major to wake us up, to shake us loose from our ego’s grip as it struggles to maintain an illusion of control. It is loss of control more than anything else that humbles us and enables us to see the big picture. It reminds us that the key to the universe lies in what we do not know, and what we do know is a small fraction of the great mystery in which we live. ~DailyOm
Today I am grateful...
- for the light shining through newcomers that get what it's all about
- for the strong seed of gratitude my Higher Power planted in my heart
- that I have developed a habit of finding gratitude in my life
- for the faith, patience and trust I have found in steps 3 and 11
- for serenity maintenance
- that I have work today
- that I was saved from a bottomless pit
I have found that pain is a friend; it lets me know there is something wrong with my emotions, just as a physical pain lets me know there is something wrong with my body. When I take the appropriate action through the Twelve Steps, the pain gradually goes away. ~Daily Reflections
