We have lost a lot of misery. In it’s place inside us, a spirit grows. . .as love is added. Especially self-love. In our illness, we came to hate ourselves. It was really our illness we hated. We couldn't find ourselves. All we saw was what others saw---our illness. In recovery, we’ve found ourselves again. We’ve found we’re good people. We’ve also come to love the world around us. ~Keep It Simple
Today I am grateful...
- that So got her new life partner, Jonsie the Morgan
- that I didn't oversleep, but instead got to bed late and slept my regular seven hours
- that I will make it to the Came to Believe meeting although I will probably be late
- for last night's service auction and the money it raised for Round Up
- to watch an artist, unsure of herself and her talents, have a piece go for a lot of money. She said it made her cry. I understand that process of learning 'we are good enough'.
- to get to share sober history with another alcoholic

And So loves her new horsie Jonsie! So said I sounded like a kid at Christmas last night when I was talking about her.

Do y'all use the Came to Believe book for your meeting? I attended a Came to Believe meeting for many years and we used the red Came to Believe Book as our format. I took a 2 hour nap today...it felt fabulous! I'm glad the Lambda Auction went well last night. How did you dog/dog picture go over?
Thank you for sharing the quote: "In our illness, we came to hate ourselves. It was really our illness we hated. We couldn't find ourselves. All we saw was what others saw---our illness. In recovery, we’ve found ourselves again."
It's so true and it's just what I needed to be reminded of. Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks for this quotation, Scott. I'm finally finding the goodness in me that I thought was lost, and the world is looking brighter each day. I am leaving isolation behind. Please drop in on my blog when you have time.
This is a great exercise. May your days be filled with Gratitude Energy ;-D
Good Morning Scott..
Glad you are sober today.
Thanks for being..
i know this is surprising, but we have a "came to believe" meeting too! i used to go there a lot many years ago b/c they had a 10pm meeting. it came in handy in early sobriety b/c i had no idea what to do with myself on friday and saturday nights.
the way you describe the artist selling her piece reminds me of watching people grow in the program. it's a beautiful sight.
