If we really depended upon God, we couldn't very well play God to our fellows, nor would we feel the urge to rely wholly on human protection and care. ~12 & 12
Today I am grateful...
- that the end of August means Fall is close at hand
- that these days my thoughts are fairly healthy ones
- that the truth gets eked out, sometimes in small amounts, sometimes in larger amounts
- that I will strive for an open mind and an open heart today
The rewards of sobriety are bountiful and as progressive as the disease they counteract. Certainly among these rewards for me are release from the prison of uniqueness, and the realization that participation in the A.A. way of life is a blessing and a privilege beyond estimate--a blessing to live a life free from the pain and degradation of drinking and filled with the joy of useful, sober living, and a privilege to grow in sobriety one day at a time and bring the message of hope as it was brought to me. ~ Alcoholics Anonymous - Fourth Edition

Ok, that's really weird. I too grew up in a smallish town half-way between Possum Trot and Monkey's Eyebrow. hmmmmmmmmm
Oh I remember now, you are my brother!
Love you
LOL Possum Trot and Monkey's Eyebrow- really???? u crack a me up Scotty!
Those are the guaranteed real names of those two places.
Paducah, huh?
I did not realize there are four (4) separate Possum Trots in the good old U.S. of A.
I suppose the home town names could be stranger...
That Big Book quote really hit home for me today as I am now feuding with my neighbors (who are active drug users and daily drinkers). One of whom said they had a note giving them permission to smoke pot on their front step!!!
WTF???
Dear Scott,
Makes me proud to be a Houstonian.
Possum Trot and Monkey's Eyebrow...
isn't that where Thunder Road was filmed?
I have a client with a new book about happiness and gratitude that I think you'll be interested in. Introducing the new book “Thanks! How the New Science of Gratitude Can Make You Happier” by Christian author and “positive psychologist” Dr. Robert Emmons. He spent eight years doing experiments on gratitude and is now revealing the extraordinary and encouraging results – thankful people are healthier and happier. Please help us spread the word to your blog audience about “Thanks!” and all the benefits – spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional – that come from adopting an “attitude of gratitude.” Dr. Emmons is available for interviews upon request. Please visit www.thanksbook.com or contact me for more information.
