IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

We examined our lives and discovered who we really are. To be truly humble is to accept and honestly try to be ourselves. ~NA Basic Text
Today I am grateful...
  • for another Monday holiday without a hangover
  • for the many freedoms sobriety has brought me
  • that six years ago this weekend was my original sobriety date. It was also the weekend before tropical storm Allison which dumped 36" of rain.
  • that my Higher Power is on call 24 hours a day
  • that my life is complemented by many loved ones
The core paradox that underlies spirituality is the haunting sense of incompleteness, of being somehow unfinished, that comes from the reality of living on this earth as part and yet also not-part of it. For to be human is to be incomplete, yet yearn for completion; it is to be uncertain, yet long for certainty; to be imperfect, yet long for perfection; to be broken, yet crave wholeness. All these yearnings remain necessarily unsatisfied, for perfection, completion, certainty and wholeness are impossible precisely because we are imperfectly human--or better, because we are perfectly human, which is to say humanly imperfect. ~The Spirituality of Imperfection

Ah, I love the spirituality of imperfection. My perfectionism remains, most days, dormant in me and I am free to appreciate the beauty of my human imperfection. I thank God and my program for that. Thanks, Scott. :-)
