If you hate the whole human race yet demand it's approval at the same time...Welcome to Alcoholics Anonymous. ~Charlie C.
Today I am grateful...
- that I woke knowing what day it was! Ha ha! Yesterday I was confused but it got better.
- that my childhood really was like a Norman Rockwell painting
- that I will do my civic duty, again, by attending jury duty for the city of Houston at the bizarre time of 12:15 PM
- that I made it to the audiologist appointment on time yesterday but the ENT office was closed
- that I am enjoying Bowie's "Life on Mars" that is stuck as a brain worm for me for two days
- that today I get it a lot more than I got it in my drunk life
Living real life never feels as serene as our fantasies. A myth lifts us up, carries us away to other possibilities, but we should always take it with a grain of salt. A father's recollections or a Norman Rockwell painting romanticizes a piece of reality by omitting the drudgery and confusion of life. Myths are meant as inspirations, not as measurements of our lives. The difficulties and confusion I feel may just be part of real life. Serenity comes when I accept the mixture that real life is. ~Touchstones
