Being angry at God won’t hurt God, and neither will it provoke Him to take measures against us. If it makes us feel better to vent our anger at Him over a painful situation, we are free to do it. The only thing wrong with doing it is that what happened to us was not really God’s fault. ~Harold S. Kushner, When Bad Things Happen to Good People
Today I am grateful...
- for ibuprofen to soothe my sore muscles and joints from crawling around on and getting up too many times off cement floors yesterday
- that working in an un-air conditioned garage yesterday that it was a nice cool, spring day
- that I was asked the other day if I am practicing all three sides of the AA triangle--unity, recovery and service. I was grateful to answer yes, because if one of those legs gets weak my 3-legged stool might collapse.
- that it's a gorgeous day outside, I am going for a walk with Bunny and then breakfast with Tom Z
- that yesterday on our walk, Bunny and I were able to get away from being backed over. Frankly, it was scary and she was very apologetic.
It takes wisdom and strength to surrender to our own helplessness and to accept that we, just like every other human being, have limitations. The gifts of surrender are numerous. We discover humility, gratitude, and a deepening understanding of the human experience that enables us to be that much more compassionate and surrendered in the world. ~today's DailyOm
