IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

01.02.07

You are so made that you can only carry the weight of twenty-four hours, no more. If you weigh yourself down with the years behind and the days ahead, your back breaks. God has promised to help with the burdens of the day only. If you are foolish enough to gather again that burden of the past and carry it, then indeed you cannot expect God to help you bear it. So forget that which lies behind you and breathe in the blessing of each new day. ~Twenty-Four Hours a Day
Today I am grateful...
  • that most days I see my life as half-full other than half-empty
  • that sometimes the miracles in my life are so surreal, so fulfilling that it is hard to capture that old, dark and lonely feeling of the past
  • that I have a great life, one that would be considered one of luxury by a majority of people on this planet
  • for the SRO noon meeting yesterday and the topic of waking up without a hangover
  • for physical closeness
Sometimes we take ourselves far too seriously. We draw our lives in the absolutes of black and white, with no shadings of gray. We believe our whole lives depend on every decision we make. When a problem comes along, we see it as a crisis rather than another of the ongoing issues that confront all people. If we are displeased with someone, or if a person is upset with us, we amplify the feelings until we rupture the whole relationship. ~Today's Gift

I will go outside now and breathe in the blessings of a new day. My dogs do that by instinct. They lay in the yard and smell the air, serenely looking around. Thanks for the suggestion. I will join them.

"that most days I see my life as half-full other than half-empty" Thanks for using the words "most days". I can not relate to people who use absolutes in recovery....concerning "moods".
I'm leary of people who "know everything", and ALWAYS feel GREAT. You are usually in "gratitude"...that...I can wrap my mind around.
