IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

Final Friday 2006

If a mere code of morals or a better philosophy of life were sufficient to overcome alcoholism, many of us would have recovered long ago.But we found that such code and philosophies did not save us, no matter how much we tried. We could wish to be moral, we could wish to be philosophically comforted, in fact, we could will these things with all our might, but the power needed for change wasn't there. Our human resources, as marshaled by the will, were not sufficient; they failed utterly.
Lack of power: That was our dilemma. We had to find a power by which we could live--and it had to be a Power greater than ourselves. Alcoholics Anonymous, pp. 44-45
Today I am grateful...
  • that soon it will be 2007 and that's an odd numbered year
  • for thunderstorms on the way
  • that turning it over leads to faith, faith leads to trust, and trust leads to freedom from nasty thoughts
  • that I will try to remember today that I am only driving my car, not all the others on the road
  • that Bunny is healthy and just hit his 11th month on the 26th
  • that I substituted yesterday and led the meeting then was nominated to lead for January
  • that today I am happy with my life's course
If you are clean and sober, the miracle has already happened.
Stick around, the impossibilities take a little longer. ~Pocket Sponsor

I love the quote - "turning it over leads to faith, faith leads to trusht, and trust leads to freedom from nasty thoughts"

I've been having some nasty thoughts, so I guess if I backup and turn over the issue, then I will get the faith and trust and the nasty thoughts will go away! : ) Sometimes I have to do it all backwards! : )

Happy New Year Scott!

Hey, I'm really enjoying the blog. I've got a recovery blog as well and thought you'd be interested in my new posting about staying sober at New Year's:

Scott, thanks for your daily gratitude list...there is always something for me on it. I haven't seen "the impossibilities take a little longer" quote in a long time, and I had to go search for a pencil to write it down.
