"He drank not as an epicure, but barbarious, with a speed and dispatch, as if he were performing a homicidal function, as if he had to kill something inside himself; a worm that would not die." - Baudelaire speaking of Edgar Allen Poe (or Scott Woodard).
Today I am grateful...
- that I have been taught to pray for God's will for others
- that "Yes." and "No." can be complete sentences
- for a watchful eye on the battle between my Ego Self and my God Self
- that although I tend to be a bit of a Scrooge during the holidays, I am not doing too badly this year
- for the comforts of modern living
The world is full of lack of faith. Many people have lost confidence in any meaning in the universe. Many are wondering if it has any meaning at all. Many are at loose ends. Life has no goal for many. They are strangers in the land. They are not at home. But for us in A.A. the way of faith is the way of life. We have proved by our past lives that we could not live without it. ~Twenty-Four Hours a Day
