Life is Fragile--Handle with Care

Today I am grateful...
  • that I survived the night. I have never experienced such intense coughing. Last night at Randall's I almost passed out. Today I have to ignore the fact that I have jury duty and report to the clinic really early. Those antibiotics just aren't working.
  • that many have taught me, but ultimately I am my own rescuer
  • that I am aware that I still have a problem with judging others (see below)
  • to experience, daily, one of the strongest bonds...that of one alcoholic for another
  • for my support group
  • for Don K's lead of the 11th Step meeting yesterday, my favorite step
Each person you meet is in a specific stage of their life, a stage you may have passed through or not yet reached. Judging them by your standards and experience is therefore not only unfair, but could lead to unnecessary anger and frustration. ~Alkiespeak
On the basis of my record, am I a fit person to be a judge of my fellow men? Hardly. In A.A. I have learned not to judge people. I am so often wrong. Let the results of what they do judge them. It's not up to me. ~Twenty-Four Hours a Day

I like the red and black logo. I think you need to chop "/a>" to remove the clickiness of the banner. Or something.

You are double today :)

That virus or whatever is in your system is really loving your body. A healthy body is one where they wanna live. Soon though they will be evicted and you will be feeling good as new!

Judgement is simply an old habit...it's great that you know today that you don't have to beleive your judgements. I hope you will feel the virus leaving you soon. Be well!!!

I have had challenges with judging others, and still do at times. W

hen it comes to jury duty, I find that the responsibility doesn't necessarily call for judging a person as unworthy of love (which is what we all have a tendency to do), but to determine whether a person engaged in certain behaviors that are illegal.

It doesn't mean we have to hate the person if he/she has violated the law, but we can honor a boundary that says that certain behaviors are disruptive to our society.

Hope that helps,
Dharma

I meant no correlation between judging others and jury duty.

I thought about that passage when it was read this week in a meeting.

Judging others was always a favorite pastime when I was drinking. I could sit at the bar and pass judgment on anyone, but I didn't need to be at the bar.

When I think of the mess I made of life, it humbles me enough to realize that judging is not in the cards anymore.

As we come to be and be around the most unlovely people on earth as alcoholics and in AA, we really learn to love big time. I am so grateful for this.
