Happy Thanksgiving

fancy feast

Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation. ~Brian Tracy
Today I am grateful...
  • for my 52nd Thanksgiving
  • that today is different. I used to look forward to, and dread, this four day holiday because I would consume alcohol until I was incoherent and continue that for days on end. I looked forward to it because I could stay drunk the whole time, I dreaded it because I could NOT not stay drunk the whole time.
  • that today I look forward to what is perhaps the largest meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous in Houston today, our noon Thanksgiving Day Gratitude Meeting attended by 200+ drunks trying to get better a day at a time
  • for all the freedoms in my life today
  • for the removal of many difficulties by a power greater than myself, that I might live as intended and to be able to experience even greater joys found in recovery
  • for wishes that you and yours have a joyous, rich and fulfilling day of gratitude
Be thankful for what you have, and you will find new ways to put it to use. Be thankful for what you can do, and you'll learn to do even more. Let go of the shallow, worldly ideas of what it means to be successful. Realize that you are, already and always, inherently successful. The biggest blessing is being able to experience and appreciate your blessings. Choose on this day, and every day, to bring true abundance to life. ~Ralph Marston

Happy Thanksgiving Scott. I love the energy produced when alcoholics in recovery come together. We have a couple meetings like that which are over 200 too weekly and I confess they are my favs.

I really enjoy reading your decription about the 4 day weekend of your past, so powerful. I am glad you no longer need to experience that.
