IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

08.09.06

Once this psychic change has occurred, we who seemed doomed, we who had so many problems that we despaired of ever solving them, find ourselves able to control our desire for alcohol.

Today I am grateful...
  • that enough gratitude can keep me away from self-pity. Thanks to Boston for yesterday's meeting on self-pity.
  • that yesterday I was at the clinic at 6:45 AM - 11:00 AM. I had serenity the whole time I was there. The children didn't even bother me. I had a very nice intern who educated me as I educated her. In the end I got antibiotics to attempt to get my diverticulosis under control and they put me back on a beta-blocker hypertension medicine.
  • that this morning I further turned my health over to my Higher Power
  • that to escape HALT I do not have to wear a halter top
  • that I never huffed
When you ask God to change you, you must at the same time fully trust Him. If you do not fully trust Him, God may answer your prayer as a rescuer does that of a drowning person who is putting up too much of a struggle. The rescuer must first render the person still more helpless, until he or she is wholly at the rescuer's mercy. Just so must we be wholly at God's mercy before we can be rescued.

Hey, Scott. I hope you'll be feeling much better very soon, and that they get the health issues and meds sorted out.

That last paragraph is very powerful. Thanks so much for sharing it.

Is there a halter top pic waiting for us to see on HNT?

I am so glad to hear about the serenity circulating within you at the clinic. I hope your body is on its way to feeling better.
