IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

In any situation, no matter how painful, we have two choices: Hold onto anger, resentment, hurt, and fear, or open our hearts and look at the other person with understanding, empathy, and forgiveness. ~Melody Beattie

Today I am grateful...
  • that all Snowy needed yesterday was a jump and a 20 minute drive
  • that things fell into place, I ended up being where I needed to be and was able to be there for friends who needed me
  • that many solutions are easily available when I am able to ease myself towards them
  • for many days filled with grace
  • for Boston's meeting on rationalization, I can rationalize a whole lot of shit from a little pile of nothing
  • that the program of AA teaches me to be vigilant

Complacency is the enemy of members with substantial clean time. If we remain complacent for long, the recovery process ceases. ~NA Just for Today

Life is like a puzzle scattered on the table sometimes, slowly parts of it get put together then we have calrity of that particular piece of the puzzle. That piece is like what you share, "that things fell into place, I ended up being where I needed to be. . . "

Scott, I really appreciated the comments on complacency. It's a killer and it nearly killed me a few years ago, when I ceased going to meetings. I run from it today.

To answer your question from a few days ago, Smackie is my "blogname" for a friend. I change everyone's name to protect the, uh, innocent. Smackie comes from his real last name and first initial, which, if read in one fashion, look sort of like Smackie. The name really fits his personality if you know him.

There's a BBQ place here called Smackies. Their food is divine, even though it's bad for you. Kind of like my friend, hee hee. I'm going to have to tell him that I described him this way!
