My Friend Maude
In 1971 I met Maude through her aunt and uncle, Ophelia and Greg Oliver. Greg had been my art teacher in the eighth grade, and I befriended Ophelia while working on the school play. Their niece, Maude, was my age and she visited them each summer from New York City. We became fast friends, looking forward to the next two summers when we would be able to run around Paducah, to laugh and share things that were particular to our friendship.
In 1974 when I could not bear the brunt of a summer in Paducah, I left and went to NYC for the summer, staying with Maude and her parents Bunny and Gerry. Bunny was my art teacher's sister. They treated me like family. Maude was a talented artist, and was going to Parson's. She later became art director at Arista Records.
This past Sunday while in New York I checked my phone messages, Maude had passed away.
It didn't hit me hard. You know, sometimes someone's passing is just that. They pass onto the next existence. But today I was told that there was a website dedicated to her. I went there and the tears flowed. Please take a few minutes and visit www.thankyoumaude.com and read what a beautiful woman she was.

Maude will be sorely missed. I read with great sadness what Curtis wrote. I noticed that she passed on the day that marked 1 year since you quit smoking. Ironic huh.....
No more pain for Maude.
So
That is an awesome picture of Maude and the web space dedicated to her is a true testament to what a lovely woman she was.
Bless you Maude and bless you Scott.
I see you,
JJ
I am glad that you had her in your life hugs scott
