In the Middle of the Stream

Progress, not perfection… No matter how long you have been in recovery, no matter how long you have worked the steps, you will never raise above the level of human being. ~Pocket Sponsor

Today I am feeling the above. There is nothing wrong in my life. There are no bumps in the road today. I am floating down the middle of the stream on my back, sun shining on me. Yet I am restless. I have experienced this several times in sobriety, that days of easy living leaves me feeling like something is akilter/askew/akimbo. It is that I am not used to having those back-to-back days with no ups or downs.

Yesterday I had to break my routine. So I went in search fellow alcoholics. Met Boston and Beau at Nidda Thai restaurant for a delightful lunch, then back to the Kolache Kafe for coffee and socialization.

Today I am still in the middle of the stream and I'll hit a noon meeting, go see KM about some business, come home and take a little nap and have dinner with J&R. I have no complaints, just a lot of gratitude.

Interesting.
We both broke our "routine" yesterday.
But I wasn't akilter,askew or akimbo. I was a baseball fan.

We seek balance yet some how gravitate to imbalance -- it feels normal at times. You are in action, providing a remedy this place you are at right now, totally awesome.

What a wonderfully peaceful day you are having floating down the stream. I am on the tube over there to your left - enjoying myself and hanging onto the tree that hangs over the river... catching a few rays and people watching.

I am enjoying this ride on the river too and hope that I enjoy it enough to make it through the rapids up ahead. I can't see them yet... I can hear them though.

Take gentle care, Meg
