Today I am grateful...
- to have gone with dAAve to meet Alexis at her home group, the Journey Group
- that we got to meet Alexis' sponsor Gena (or Gina?) and look at some really pretty young men
- for the informalness of the meeting, it was like a big group of friends hanging out. They are so friendly, and you know how that makes an alcoholic feel. No, not those suspect feelings, but those of acceptance.
- to drive way out Richmond Road which brought back many memories
- for prayers of gratitude
- to have heard a story of how and why the program of AA can completely turn someone into a someone they sometimes don't recognize
- that Matt celebrated 60 days yesterday
He supplied us with the tools with which to puncture the toughest alcoholic ego, those shattering phrases by which he described our illness: the obsession of the mind that compels us to drink and the allergy of the body that condemns us to go mad or die. These were indispensable passwords. Dr. Silkworth taught us how to till the black soil of hopelessness out of which every single spiritual awakening in our fellowship has since flowered. ~AA Comes of Age
