IF THE ONLY PRAYER YOU SAID IN YOUR LIFE WAS "THANK YOU", THAT WOULD SUFFICE. ~Meister Eckhart

I am but one person in the entire scheme of things. I humbly accept my place in the big picture. ~Just for Today

Today I am grateful...
  • that I can enjoy being up early, sitting outside before the mosquitoes start feeding
  • that I can recognize one of my old shame dogs trying to lick my face. Today is the time to counter that behavior.
  • for a great newcomer / first step meeting yesterday and the two desire chips handed out
  • that I came to this morning before I fell asleep during meditation
  • that writing these lists daily gives me time to sort things out
  • for all of you that read and come back

All spiritual awakenings have some things in common. Common elements include an end to loneliness and a sense of direction in our lives. ~JFT

Sobriety is a grant, not a gift. A gift is something we get to keep forever. A grant is contingent on us doing something to keep it. ~Pocket Sponsor

I have never heard of sobriety as being a "grant." I always hear (and find myself saying) that it is a gift. Hmmmmm . . .

Thanks for the beautiful post!

ohh man a grant, I like that, I like it alot. ya go to meetings and hear people discussing things like "why we're sober and they arent" or "why some get it and some dont" or, we're chosen.." I am of the belief that God/HP is wherever He (She) is sprinkling Grace Dust all over, all the time. Those who have the courage to reach out and grab it, get it. Those who arent ready, dont. It kinda goes along with the grant theme I guess.

Funny, today I am jsut trying to be my little piece of the puzzle, part of the solution, not the problem. Great post, thanks Scott!

"Grant" works for sobriety.

I don't think the government defines it that way, however.

Excellent posting Scott - and guess what... I am willing to grant you a wish and turn off password verification on my blog. I will try it through Sunday and see how bad the spameroni is. All else fails I can delete it - right?

I love the pocket sponsor and the idea of sobriety being a grant. I like that a lot. Take care!
